Car Equalizers

One of the most overlooked components in any car audio system is the Car Equalizer. The purpose of a car equalizer is to allow the user more control over the various frequencies in their audio system - from the low frequency bass tones to the high frequency treble ones. Used correctly, a quality equalizer can greatly improve sound quality and fidelity by allowing the user to shape the tone of their audio to fit their needs. While equalizers are often used to enhance or highlight certain parts of the music, they can also be used to help compensate for the muddy frequencies that are sometimes caused by the normal noise of the car or by the acoustic properties of the material that your car is made out of.

The typical car equalizer will feature a large number of filters (each corresponding to a specific frequency range) that can be adjusted as needed to adjust your car audio. In most modern equalizers, these will usually be represented by a graphic interface on the head unit that shows all of the different frequency bands in a row. The more bands that the equalizer features, the greater amount of flexibility and control the user has in shaping the sound. So, depending on how much control you want, you may want to choose an equalizer with a larger number of bands.
