If you're considering a new career driving a big rig and live in the Lone Star state, there are plenty of options, including Texas truck driving schools, to help you make the switch to a new and exciting career as a truck driver.

Paid Training

You may have seen ads in your local newspaper advertising company paid training. Usually, these ads are submitted by local truck driving schools and are sponsored by the trucking company whose name who appears in the ad. Once you have completed the truck driving school's CDL training, you are offered a job by the sponsoring company. Most of these sponsoring companies will pay off your school tuition if you stay employed with them for a year.

Vocational Colleges

Many Texas vocational schools offer truck driving courses as well. The advantages of learning this way is that if you currently have a job you can still continue to work while you train. In addition, since the course generally lasts longer, you're not pressured into learning at a faster pace than you are comfortable with.

Directly through the Company

Some trucking companies have their own truck driving schools. Even though they are using their own employees and have their own equipment, you are still receiving a state-issued commercial driving license. There are several great advantages to this method of training. One is that you are guaranteed a job upon completion of your training. The other is that there are minimal up front training costs involved as a lot of these companies also have their own housing accommodations and dining hall facilities.

Internet Options

For the web savvy, there is a treasure trove of information on how to locate the truck driving school that is right for you. There are as many options as there are trucking companies out there, and hitting the Internet can be a great way to find limitless opportunities or help you refine your search.
